Exhibition Statement
Her Colorful World (Su Mundo de Colores) is an exhibition that celebrates the resilience and imagination of both mother and child. Inspired by the vibrant drawings of her 4-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Inez, artist Issis Macias reflects on the transformative impact of motherhood and the challenges of raising a child during the COVID-19 global pandemic. This collection weaves newly created works with earlier pieces that mark key moments in Macias’ artistic journey. Through layered acrylic and pastel, her abstract compositions invite viewers to explore a world of emotion, curiosity, and strength. Her Colorful World (Su Mundo de Colores) radiates a message of hope, reminding us of the beauty that can emerge even from life’s most difficult times.
At the heart of this exhibition is the painting Her Colorful World (Su Mundo de Colores)—a more literal interpretation of one of Inez’s vibrant scribbles. This piece elevates a fleeting moment of childhood creativity into a vast landscape of color and expression.
